File Size: About 476 KB The Compressorizer! will allow you to compress package files in your downloads folder to smaller, more manageable sizes, freeing up space. (Thus making room for even MORE downloads for you download junkies!) On some computers, it also speeds up load time. See the manual (PDF File) for more details. Installation Information: - If you download the installer: extract the EXE file from the zip and run it. It will place all the program files in their proper places, and create a shortcut for you. - If you download the "no installer" version: extract the zip and it's contents into the folder of your choice, and then launch the "TheCompressorizer.exe" file to start the program. Copyright 2007 DJS Sims and the Sims Programming Group Changes Since Version 1.0: - Added the newest version of dbpf-recompress.exe

Sorry - I know this is the thread for the WTF Editor, but I didn't see one for the Compressorizer. Anyway - my question is, will the program re-compress stuff? And is that a Bad Thing? I guess what I'm asking is if I add more downloads, should I just re-do the whole folder, or should I put them in a non-compressed folder for smooshing and then put them where they need to go? Anyway - please don't shoot me for posting in the wrong forum, and thanks so much for such a nifty program  You rock

Hi there First off....you're a great programmer! Second...I just downloaded the compressorizer...which is cool....but I'm not sure..(actually I dont know at all) where the group cache is that I need to delete before starting my game?

Firstly would like to say how great this programme is and how easy it is to use. But I have just come accross an error whilst trying to compress one of my folders that contains all my clothes, make-up etc (known as a CAS folder). The error is this:  Can you suggest any solutions?

Can you suggest any solutions?
That means you'll have to rename some of your files to have shorter filenames, or move the files out of that long set of subfolders and compress them in a separate folder (IE drag them to a folder on your desktop, compress them, drag them back). So far as I know, there's no way around this. The .NET Framework just doesn't like very long filenames and paths like that, and it doesn't help that the game buries our stuff under a long list of subfolders to begin with... _________________ I wrote a book! Firstly, this tool rocks for neatfreaks such as me  If I tried to run it on game-critical files, such as lot files and, perhaps, objects.package, would it screw things up? -Database

Patching can be an issue if you run it on critical game files. I ran into that problem after compressing the base game files, couldn't install one of the EPs because the patch would fail and then the installation wouldn't continue. So, I'd say if you're going to compress core game files, just don't compress any of the base game and latest expansion files. _________________ I wrote a book! It worked fine for me when I used it on my lots, neighborhods, and sims. And it let me install nightlife really easy.

I just thought you would like to know that there is a three page forum thread at SPG going about this program, and everyone is liking it so far. Some are worried about compressing hacks and there was one question of whether it reduces texture quality (no, someone answered, or I would have), but others are compressing everything and having no problems.

Someone mentioned on another forum, that some of the downloads arent compatible with compression, do you know of any hacks or stuff that may not work after being compressed. Thank you for your help.

I have yet to find something that can't be compressed, so I don't know for sure what the people on the other forum were talking about for sure. I wouldn't worry about it, there's only one thing you really have to be careful about doing, and that's compressing the core game files. I've done that myself, but only on certain items that I'm sure are OK to compress, so I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. Hope that helps! Jfade _________________ I wrote a book! Hi, I just found this program and did backflips! I spent a whole day compressing files, going from 11.9 GB to 6 GB. I added about 15,000 files (compressed first) that had been sitting around because the game wouldn't function, and am up to almost 7 GB.
Booted up the game and it crashed. (Before, I had to keep downloads at 11.4 GB or less to work.) Also, many of the files don't now show up on Sim Categorizer. Any ideas?

 May I ask, it is wise though to compress the Neighborhood folders, SavedSims folder and Collections folder? And what exactly would a core file be considered?
