Did you use the Compressorizer on your core game files or just your downloads?

The manual did say that compressing core game files was something you do at your own risk, so I'm not accountable, sorry. You can reinstall your game and that should fix it. Don't compress the game files but you should be able to leave your game data (neighborhoods, downloads, etc) compressed and it shouldn't harm anything.

Hi! I was wondering if the Sims 2 compressorizer can compress other stuff besides the Sims 2. I was also wondering.... can it compress thing above 10,000 kb ( I think it's kb, I'm not sure) Thanks for taking your time to read this!

No, the program is strictly for Sims 2 DBPF (Package) Files. It can compress any properly formatted package file of any size but the bigger ones of course will take more time and patience and all that jazz.

I downloaded the compressorizer to compress my download files to help save space. Now everytime I go into a lot to build or to play my sims it crashes just as soon as it is loaded.. I deleted the groups. cache before I started but the only thing I compressed is my downloads folder and they are placed in folders. It only crashes if my download folder is in.. Has the compressor made my downloads unusable? I refuse to give them up. Any suggestions? :headbang: :help:

The best thing to do would be to remove all your downloads and start the game, the slowly start moving them back in until you find the problem file that's causing the crash. That's the easiest method. :)

If it helps any, I had problems with the door and arch meshes from Shakeshaft's Hotel matching set crashing my game after they were compressed. Put the backedup copy in and it is fine now.

Hey jfade

If everyone used The Compressorizer BEFORE they uploaded their files - it would be great and save space on all servers/PCs.
and save me and everyone else from encountering problems using your fine program.
The program works fine for me, it does what you say it does, and it never messed up any content in any files for me.

That is: This applies for "The Compressorizer" itself, the Game "TS2" and the contents of any package-files, ...... but ......

Now, after compressorizing, I have this HUGE PROBLEM:
It is now a total mess, when I am Trying_And_Testing my thousands of modding files (compressorized or not).
All my file-managers (TotalCommander, WinCom, Explorer etc.) sort and recognize files BOTH by name, (and size) AND by date.
And the result is that, after compressorizing, files that are exactly the same in contents (except for YOUR NEW date) appears like they're different.
This kills my possibility to erase the dublets in the easy way - by using file-managers.
Why?

Could you maybe include the possibility to keep the old dates when compressorizing.
It would be a great help!! :D

Hoping for help!

That's what I ended up doing. I had also decided i did not want some of my downloads anymore and took them out...the corrupted one was amongst the ones i had taken out... My game doesn't crash anymore.

Unfortunately when the files are compressed, they are opened, changed and saved, so the Operating System is going to change the date automagically. With tools like Sims2Pack Clean Installer able to recognize doubles based on MD5 hashes, you can use that to detect doubles instead AS LONG AS all your files are compressed. I recommend going that route instead. It's just as easy and simple. :)

Dragon: Glad you fixed the problem! :)

Ok, I have a (dumb?) question. Yesterday I gleefully compressed my objects folder and hair folder and clothing folder (saved myself a lot of space btw, thank you!) BUT then of course I went and downloaded some more stuff. SO...if one adds content to an already compressed folder, then eventually wants to compress that content, what happens to the files that were already compressed? Do they compress furthur or is there a threshold?

Nope. Anything already compressed just gets decompressed and then recompressed back to the same size. :)

First off, I'd like to thank you for this great program. I was wondering, since it can freeze and stop responding if you're trying to compress a large amount of files I.E. your downloads folder, do you think it would just be possible to have the program remember somehow the files it compressed, or mark them? So that way you can always re-compress your downloads folder without it crashing or taking an extremely long amount of time.

I'll think about it, but really, you're not supposed to compress everything at once you know, take it in small chunks to make sure nothing becomes corrupt. :P

So you say it's perfectly okay to re-compress things, then? I'd be really relieved as I find compressing new downloads rather ... troublesome.
Great program! You don't know how many lives you have saved with this  *runs off to feed the Compressorizer*

Sorry if this is awakening a dead thread, but I'm unable to download the Compressorizer, both installer and non-installer versions, and keep getting a 404 error when i click the links.
Has it been removed or is there anywhere else I could download the program?
